What's happening to my money?
Your contributions, together with your employer’s contributions, are invested in the fund or funds you selected in your chosen SSRSS scheme. Your benefit will be the combined total of those contributions plus any investment earnings (net of tax and expenses).
If you didn’t choose an investment fund (or funds), your scheme provider or scheme trustee will have invested your contributions in the fund selected as the scheme’s default investment fund. The default investment funds for each of the scheme providers are:
AMP – Lifesteps Investment Programme
ASB – ASB Balanced Fund
AXA – Conservative Portfolio
Member Scheme Accounts
You have a scheme account which your scheme provider maintains. This account keeps track of:
• your regular contributions
• your voluntary contributions (all voluntary lump sum contributions, contributions above 3% while a subsidised member, and any contributions made while an unsubsidised member)
• your employer’s contributions to match your regular contributions up to 3% of gross base salary
• any salary sacrifice contributions, and
• investment earnings added to your account.
Your scheme account therefore has different balances, to keep track of the different types of contributions made by or for you.
Fees are deducted from this account for investment and administration services. Click here for more information on how much each scheme provider will charge in the way of fees.
Your scheme provider will provide you with information on how your investment is doing. Each year you are sent a detailed personalised benefit statement showing the status of your entitlements as at 30 June. You can request an updated statement at any time, and you can view the balances in your member account online at your scheme provider’s website.
You are also sent financial information about your chosen SSRSS scheme in the Trustee’s Annual Report. The Scheme Providers are required to send a copy of the Annual Report to members of their scheme within six months of the balance date. The balance dates for the three schemes are:
AMP 30 June
ASB 31 March
AXA 30 September
